We were delighted to be asked to design the planting scheme for the Oxenwood Stand at Chelsea Flower Show in 2019, a company that produces luxury handcrafted outdoor and indoor furniture, made from sustainable, natural materials. Their beautiful solid oak outdoor tables come with Belgium Bluestone tops in a variety of finishes, paired with comfortable rattan chairs or oak benches. Chunky oak planters compliment the range.
THE BRIEF
A planting scheme to form a backdrop to the stand and to compliment the garden furniture and planters.
The resulting scheme was naturalistic in style, with soft grasses weaving through all the beds and borders, interspersed with vibrant splashes of colour. Ruby red Opium poppies, lupins and Astrantia were illuminated by acid green Euphorbia and Angelica. Dark purple salvias and mauve alliums melded beautifully with pale pink foxgloves and purple fennel. A few carefully placed clipped evergreens and multi-stemmed Acer griseum trees provided height, depth and structure to balance the solidity of the oak furniture. A stunning stand admired by all!
